AFCP Office Staff
Loren Colburn - Executive Director:
Loren Colburn joined the AFCP staff in March of 2010 as the Executive Director after an extensive search conducted by the association to replace Craig McMullin. A native of upstate New York, Loren brings over 33 years experience in the free paper industry to his position and that experience has been recognized with the AFCP Publisher of the Year award in 2004 and the AFCP Distinguished Service Award in 2007.
He had served in a variety of capacities on the AFCP and NANI board of directors since 1997 including 2 years as president and 4 years as secretary/treasurer. He has also served the free paper industry as a member and chair of the PaperChain Committee and spent 20 years on the board of FCPNY including 3 years as president and over 10 years as secretary/treasurer. He has also been honored with FCPNY’s Publisher of the Year Award in 2002 and their Distinguished Service Award in 2010.
Loren started his career with the Scotsman Press as a publications sales representative in 1977 and quickly rose through the ranks serving as system manager, director of operations, general manager and was named publisher in 1990. The Scotsman Press published 22 separate community publications to over 258,000 homes in the Central New York area as well as operating two full commercial printing plants.
His education includes a B. A. degree from the State University of New York at Cortland in Communications as well as being among the charter graduates of The Leadership Institute with his Associate Advertising Executive certification.
Loren resides in the Syracuse area with his wife Cindy and has three sons, Chris, Brian and Jeff. In his off hours he enjoys motorcycling, fishing, hunting and trying to keep pace with his three sons!
Cassey Recore - Assistant Executive Director:
Cassey Recore joined AFCP as the NANI Coordinator when the office first moved to New York in 2010. Her role was quickly expanded in January 2011 to Administrative Assistant with increased involvement in all aspects of the association.
Throughout the years, her involvement with AFCP and NANI has continued to expand in all areas of the association administration, including responsibilities with conference and meeting planning, member communications, committee participation and day-to-day operations. This broad experience lead to her promotion to Assistant Executive Director in July 2018. “We are fortunate to have someone with Cassey’s skill set to assure that our member experience, operational processes and organizational initiatives continue to meet the high standards established by AFCP,” stated Loren Colburn.
Cassey is a native of Central New York and has an A. S. degree in Business Management from Bryant Stratton College. She has worked as a sales assistant and inside sales representative for Hardware Specialty Company Inc. as well as several years in retail sales and management. Cassey resides in Cicero with her husband Mike and three sons, Anthony, Damen and Kaden.
